Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly and other multilateral bodies like G20, G77 et cetera, where students step into the shoes of ambassadors from the UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. 2. How did Model UN begin? Model United Nations began as a series of student-led Model League of Nations simulations. When these simulations began they were called as International Assembly, the first of which was held at Oxford University in November 1921. Two years later, in 1923, the simulations were introduced at Harvard University where they gained popularity.
